SkyScraper not showing artwork on the majority of games, but it does exist and the XML seems correct.
-
Hi All,
Here's the XML file:
https://pastebin.com/YE5c3uD7I've confirmed that this is the correct XML that Retropie is reading from by deleting this and showing that Retropie no longer has a configuration for any of the games. I've also checked that there is not any other gameslist.xml that it could be reading from.
The artwork for Alien Resurrection does exist, and the paths in the XML are correct.
Armored core shows all the artwork, and I can't figure out why it works and Alien Resurrection doesn't.What can I even check here? I've rebuilt this twice with the same result :/

(Figured out how to edit a post)

How did you install RetroPie ?
-
I downloaded an image by clicking the "Raspberry PI 2/3" button on this page: https://retropie.org.uk/download/
I then used Etcher to write this to a Sandisk Ultra 64gb memory card and booted it on my Raspberry Motherboard PI 3 Model A+.
I then moved the ROMs over using FTP after failing to get Retropie manager to transfer the large PSX ROMs.
Can I ask why you asked that question? I'm just unsure what info you're after.

I'm trying to determine if your image has an existing
gamelist.xml
in place, that may be overriding the one created by the scraper.I've also checked that there is not any other gameslist.xml that it could be reading from.
Did you check in the ROMs folder to see if any
gamelist.xml
is present ? -
Yes, I've checked the PSX ROMs folder and that contains nothing but folders which have the game ROMs.
I've seen a comment on here (which I believe was by you) that explained the order that it checks for gamelist.xml files and made sure this wasn't causing the mistake. As I said, I can see it's reading the correct XML as changing or deleting this removes all the artwork. -
Since you have sub-folders, where do you expect the artwork to show up - in the main gamelist ? If you go into the game folder and you see the actual game, does the artwork show up ?
-
OH MY GOD!!!
Thank you!!! I clearly misunderstood how this was going to work. I assumed this was a gamelist, not just showing me the folders in the PSX directory. I'll write a script to pull all the files into the main directory and this should be fixed. Thanks again!!
Actually, is there a way to tell emulation station to do this automatically?'
EDIT: Hang on, this is the case of Alien Resurection, but other games seem to be missing artwork even in the folders...For example "Chicken Run" clearly has scraped data, but there is none even when clicking into the game.

This games doesn't appear to be in a folder - the artwork appear when selecting the game be in the main list. At least that's what your posted gamelist shows.
Also, please try to avoid cursing, we're trying to keep the forum an all-ages place.

Removed cursing apologies. I was at this for hours last night and was just excited to see how obvious the soloution was.
I think all I need to do here is to move everything up into the main PSX folder and that should fix it? (after a rescrape)

Probably, since the data is already in cache, it should be a lot faster.

Just moved everything into the main folder and all's well now. Thanks for your help!
