I'm currently using Skraper to scrape my metadata. When used, it overwrites any edits in the metadata every time I scrape. The metadata is saved in my roms directory under gamelist.xml. With that said, I have two problem, First I would like to use the Japanese Sonic the Hedgehog rom over USA rom since it has more environmental animation. That said, I would like to use the U.S. artwork with the japanese rom. My second problem is with the SNES-mini theme. Skraper lists the number of players as 1-2, 1-4, etc. However the SNES-mini theme only accepts player metadata as single digits like 1, 2, 3, 4. I would like to edit the <players> metadata to single digits so it will work with the SNES-mini theme but would like to do it in a way so that I can still update the rest of the metadata when I scrape.

In short, I would like to only edit the following metadata of a few games but still be able to have the rest of the metadata scraped, and updated, when I use Skraper.

      <players></players>
      <image></image>
      <video></video>

Is this even possible. Thanks for any suggestions!

You can use Skraper on a local folder on the PC, with only the games you want to scrape.
Once it generates a gamelist.xml file for that folder, copy over the games and their artwork to your real ROMs folder on RetroPie, then edit the RetroPie gamelist.xml and add the contents of the - smaller - gamelist generated by Skraper.

Skraper lists the number of players as 1-2, 1-4, etc.

Actually, this is how the information comes from ScreenScraper. There's nothing you can do except editing the scraped gamelist.xml after the fact and replacing the values.
