Rook's Collection O' Splash Screens
-
@meleu Nerd, lol. You're welcome.
-
@lilbud Hmm, Breath of the Wild... that's not something you can play on the Pi, yet. LOL
-
@Rookervik Yeah...If I suddenly disappear from the forum around March 3, just know that I am playing BOTW
-
I have a cool idea for a splash screen, might be really difficult, but could you do a pixel-ized animated version of the GameCube intro and of course instead of it saying Nintendo GameCube you would replace it with "RetroPie" or "RetroPie Game System" and also use this version of the song?
If you cant do it I would understand since you might be busy with more important things.
-
@BennySpaceCore Hmmm, it's not that I don't have the time to make this. I just don't know where to start. LOL. I'd have to animate a box in 3 directions I guess. Then create a game in Construct that would move the box around the logo. I don't even know how to go about it. LOL
-
@Rookervik I found a video of someone who already made a pixel intro for the GameCube, do you think you can maybe replace the Nintendo GameCube part and animate it the same way as it pops up and make it say retro pie? It should be far easier and if you credit them I sure they would be alright with it. Here's the vid

They ran some video filters on this to make it look pixelated. I think it looks very dirty. And if I were going to do the gamecube bios splash, I'd want to change the G logo into an R logo. I wouldn't want to rip Nintendo off directly.
-
@Rookervik your right, maybe make a 2D panel that flips out into a R to the GameCube theme? I would just love to see a GameCube related splash screen.
-
@Rookervik i love your seaquest splashscreen. I am a huge fan of the 2600 games box and label art. Yes us old nerds love this stuff. Yars revenge would be cool. It is my favorite old school back in the day atari game. Warlords being my second (Lots of cool homebrews. Halo 2600 and medieval mayhem are my favorite)
-
@edmaul69 Yars' Revenge has an incredibly detailed cover art. I'm not sure I could reproduce this in any decent amount of time. Yars' would be more of a commission style art. Unless I steal this other guys' Yars vector and just slap it on a background. LOL.
-
@Rookervik i wasnt expecting you to make it. I understand it is way too detailed.
-
@Rookervik Hi, can you check? It says that the file is corrupted?
Oops apparantly the reply was not added to the video. The N64 intro video is apparantly corrupted when trying to open/download it
-
@kverreth What the heck are you talking about? LOL

@kverreth
Should be nothing wrong with the link. Dropbox is working on making the 'Public' folder no longer public anymore. So it's possible a lot of my links will stop working. I updated the link with a re-copy of the address. Can't tell if it's the same exact link. Anyway... try right-clicking and download to see if that helps.

Here's a boot splash screen of Gradius III for Super Nintendo. Also included a video of the process for those interested.
-
@Rookervik this is a really cool splashscreen! I love it!
-
-
@lilbud Huh? LOL
-
These are amazing! I love the Defender one you did, you said you did it in Adobe Illustrator? Do you still have the .ai file? If so, could I please get it from you? I would love to have this on as my marquee sign for the bartop arcade I just built.
-
@GameOfSoup Looks like I only used Illustrator for the RetroPie outline. The rest was done in Photoshop. I remember creating a brush to do the stars. So, sadly, I do not have the original vector, it was just a quick method to get the shape to send to Photoshop.
