Cocktail cabinet games
-
I LOVE classic cocktail arcade cabinet games. (e.g. screen "rotating" 180 degrees for player two) I actually built myself a custom set-up. This is so nostalgic! I thought I'd share the list of games that I've gotten to work flawlessly with MAME2003 (no shaders involved) and a "classic U.S. cocktail cabinet" set-up.
Arabian
Burger Time
Dig Dug
Dig Dug II
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong 3
Elevator Action
Evil Stone
Frogger
Hoccer
Iron Horse
Jr. Pac-man
Jump Bug
Kangaroo
King & Balloon
Lady Bug
Lode Runner
Mappy
Mr. Do!
Mr. Goemon
Ms. Pac-Man
Pac-Gal
Pac-Land
Pac-Man Plus
Pac ' n Pal
Pengo
Popeye
Rainbow Islands
Roc 'n Rope
Rolling Thunder
Sinbad Mystery
Spatter
Tapper
Q*bert (although difficult to play with its 45-degree angled control, I built a 'switchable' control panel)
ZZYZZYXXSome of these are "classic cocktail cabinet games", some are personal favorites, and all play great with a four-way joystick. These are all classic "alternating gameplay" (sorry SonSon).

Smash TV and its spiritual sequel Total Carnage are my two favorite simultaneous two-player arcade games.

Ok?

I really want to make a cocktail cab. This will be really helpful once I get that project underway.

@quicksilver I'm using MAME2003 as my default. (I'm doing classic four-way joystick games. Popper is kinda playable with a sloppy four-way restricter plate, but a lot more difficult).
-
Check out Fast Lane.
Also good for alternating cocktail play is Nintendo classic Space Launcher. I'm not sure if their Space Fever and Space Fever High Splitter are cocktail friendly as well, but they might.
-
Fast Lane doesn't support a native cocktail mode; it has alternating gameplay though. I have issues with player two's graphics when using a shader. Any tips for optimization?

@IanDaemon Oh, that's right. Stuff gets sort of misaligned iirc.
-
Thanks IanDaemon
I'd love a cocktail cabinet :)

@landyvlad The first one I built out of Masonite was kinda falling apart so I'm redesigning it and rebuilding it out of Acrylic. To keep the weight down I made everything too thin. :(
-
@iandaemon What about the title "Lock N Chase" or that "Tower of Druaga" game, I remember in the Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of Uruk anime they had a cocktail arcade cabinet in the dungeon of that very game.
