Hey guys, I just joined here. I got this original GBA Retropie with a Pi Zero from my cousin who does a lot of the programming and circuitry stuff and I have an issue with the GB emulators (all 3 of them). Whenever I try to launch a game with one of these emulators, the sound goes, and when I use inputs the ROMs seem to be running perfectly fine but the screen is frozen on the launch window no matter what I do.

The GBA emulator always gave me issues with lag, but nothing like this, which just started today. I was even able to play GB and GBC games earlier in the day but when I tried this evening, they all came up with the same issue.

      Has anyone experienced this before?

Please add more details about your system - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. Which GB emulators are you running ?

when I use inputs the ROMs seem to be running perfectly fine but the screen is frozen on the launch window no matter what I do.

        I don't understand this phrase - are they working/not working/stuttering ?

The GBA emulator always gave me issues with lag,

Which one ? The PI 0 is not too powerfull, so that might be normal for SNES/GBA.

Sorry, I probably wasn't very clear. You see it's an issue with the visual output. When I select the game from the emulator it gives me the typical launching screen with the option to configure the emulator by pressing a button, etc. From this point, the audio of the game starts to play the title screen or whatever but the visuals remain on the launching screen. When I then try and press some buttons it interacts with the game as if it's running normally as I can tell by the audio giving the sounds of me pressing start on the menu screen, etc, it's just that the visuals do not load at all.

This only occurs on my Gameboy, GBC and GBA emulators as my Sega Genesis, NES and SNES games start up fine. My cousin and I tried to sort out the issues, I even attached a USB keyboard to the system and he lead me through some options to try and update the system, but it doesn't have an internet connection. So I'm thoroughly stumped on both what the issue is and how to go about fixing it.

So the video output is sent somewhere else - maybe the system has multiple displays configured, but you haven't provided any details about it.
