Zero volume sound issues on Pi 4 - VolumeControl::init() - Failed to attach to default card!
-
Retropie 4.6 on a 2GB Pi 4, I have another problem this time with the sound. I have a VGA monitor plugged in via a micro-HDMI->VGA adapter, and speakers plugged in to the 3.5mm jack socket.
When I try to change the volume level slider in the sound settings it always resets back to zero. I've read a couple of guides I've found but none of the changes I've made seem to allow it to be set to anything above zero.
I've also tried forcing it to use the 3.5mm jack in the sound config, and also maxed out the audio mixer; if I turn the speakers up to a high volume then a low level of sound is produced, just not very loud.

If you've selected the 3.5'' jack for audio, then the default settings in EmulationStation shold be 'Audio Card = Default' and 'Audio Device = PCM' and you'll not have a problem with changing the audio level.

Thanks, looks like it was a dodgy set of speakers. I set the sound as per, robbed the speakers from my PC and now I have sound. Still seems quite low though.
