lr-pcsx rearmed not responding to psx controllers and can't get into menu to configure them - please help! - retropie4.6 pi 4

Hi,
I have set up my retropie with orginal dualshock ps1 controllers via USB to the pi. They control the frontend fine and they have previously worked fine with the ps1 emulators in the past but when I run lr-pcsx rearmed the controllers don't work at all. The regular shortcut to get into the direct emulator retropie menu doesn't work - select and up . When I connect a keyboard, I can use that as a controller but shift F1 on that won't bring up the retropie menu either as it would on all other emulators . Please can anyone help?!

@uncledisgusting you sure you're not using the standalone pcsxrearmed emulator?

Hi Buzz, it is definitely the pre-installed lr-pcsx rearmed emulator.
The controllers work perfectly in the front end and worked fine on previous version of retropie on the pi3b+ -

\\retropie\configs\psx1\retroarch.cfg
file on pastebin.com. Did you save/reset your RetroArch configuration for PS1 games ? -

When I use a standard USB controller I can bring up the retropie menu in lr-pcsx rearmed but as soon as I plug in my dualshock controllers via usb adaptor then the emulator doesn't respond at all. I have no problem at all using the dualshock controller to control the retropie frontend but as soon as I launch the emulator then I have no other option but to power off the pi.

Try replacing the
retroarch.cfg
in thepsx1
configuration folder with this:# Settings made here will only override settings in the global retroarch.cfg if placed above the #include line input_remapping_directory = "/opt/retropie/configs/psx/" #include "/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg"
and see if the controller gets picked up correctly.

@mitu Thank you so much that did the trick! I also had to add a pointer to the bios
system_directory = "~/RetroPie/BIOS"Is there anything else I should add from the old config please?

system_directory = "~/RetroPie/BIOS"
That should be present in the
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
file, which is included in thepsx
config - so you should check that file and maybe reset it to the default set by RetroPie.
