Kodi on Ubuntu 20.04 - Package kodi-inputstream-rtmp is not available
-
I'm new to the forum, I'd consider my self a bit of a techie however I'm relatively new (1 month) to emulators and certainly very new Retropie, RetroArch, EmulationStation and Kodi.
I'm running on a PC (chose Retropie for ease of setup & maintenance after manually hacking together Mame, Nes, Snes with HyperSpin for a couple of weeks) and decided to go with Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
I have RetroPie 4.6 running great with several emulators, but I'm struggling to install Kodi (also ScummVM but that can wait for another day).
The only install option I have is for Kodi from the ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh tool is to install from Binary in the optional packages. There is no option to install from source.
I've updated all apt packages and added http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/ppa/ubuntu focal InRelease.
I've updated the setup script and updated all core packages, but it still keeps saying it couldn't install.
Here are the details in the log:

As far as I can tell, this probably means either the binaries aren't prepared yet for Ubuntu 20.04, or I haven't added the correct repositories to allow it.
Could someone point me in the right direction please as it would be nice to get this running through RetroPie/EmulationStation.
I haven't attempted to install Kodi directly into Ubuntu as I didn't want to confuse things but I guess thats an option, I just don't know how I'd then integrate it with RetroPie.
Thanks

This was supposed to work but I couldn't get Kodi to show up on the menu:

I guess I probably just need to wait for Kodi packages to be updated to support 20.04.
The only reason I wanted Kodi was for playing some fitness videos.
Last night I tried setting up a new entry in EmulationStation with VLC as the run command and pointed to the video directory and managed to get it working well within Emulation Station. I was surprised it natively pulled through directories to browse through and I could pass key mappings through as arguments (I have dedicated exit, play/pause buttons on my arcade unit) so I've actually ended up with a better, lighter weight solution!
I'm no longer concerned about getting Kodi working, but if anyone has any suggestions or wants me to test any solutions let me know incase it helps others.

Just to note I have just improved the Kodi module as it failed on Ubuntu 20.10 - it should help with other Ubuntu versions (Basically it checks which kodi packages are available due to packaging differences between PPAs/versions)
