      Hi everyone,
      i have a problem with starting Retropie 4.6 on Pi4. I created the bootable sd (formatted in fat32) with win32disk imager but after inserting it into the pi4 and after completing the installation only a black screen appears (I also had to edit the config.txt file to force the hdmi output because there was no video signal). Can someone help me? Thanks in advance.

      Pi model: Raspberry Pi4 4gb
      official Retropie 4.6 pre made sd image from retropie website
      Micro Sd samsung evo plus 128 gb (I also tried with an 8 gb sd)
      Labists charger for pi4
      no error message during installation

        Can you post your config.txt ? You didn't mention what TV model/vendor you have problems with. Which microHDMI port are you using ?

          @mitu Tv model is Sharp aquos HD lcd 32". I changed the config.txt file by deleting "#" before "hdmi_safe=1" , "hdmi_force_hotplug=1" , "config_hdmi_boost=4" and in this way i solved the problem of no signal on the tv. I tried with both hdmi ports and nothing changed. I add that the installation of Raspbian (always with the modified config.txt file) is successful and installing retropie via terminal works. However I would like to install only retropie. This is the config.txt :

          For more options and information see

          http://rpf.io/configtxt

          Some settings may impact device functionality. See link above for details

          uncomment if you get no picture on HDMI for a default "safe" mode

          hdmi_safe=1

          uncomment this if your display has a black border of unused pixels visible

          and your display can output without overscan

          #disable_overscan=1

          uncomment the following to adjust overscan. Use positive numbers if console

          goes off screen, and negative if there is too much border

          #overscan_left=16
          #overscan_right=16
          #overscan_top=16
          #overscan_bottom=16

          uncomment to force a console size. By default it will be display's size minus

          overscan.

          #framebuffer_width=1280
          #framebuffer_height=720

          uncomment if hdmi display is not detected and composite is being output

          hdmi_force_hotplug=1

          uncomment to force a specific HDMI mode (this will force VGA)

          #hdmi_group=1
          #hdmi_mode=1

          uncomment to force a HDMI mode rather than DVI. This can make audio work in

          DMT (computer monitor) modes

          #hdmi_drive=2

          uncomment to increase signal to HDMI, if you have interference, blanking, or

          no display

          config_hdmi_boost=4

          uncomment for composite PAL

          #sdtv_mode=2

          #uncomment to overclock the arm. 700 MHz is the default.
          #arm_freq=800

          Uncomment some or all of these to enable the optional hardware interfaces

          #dtparam=i2c_arm=on
          #dtparam=i2s=on
          #dtparam=spi=on

          Uncomment this to enable infrared communication.

          #dtoverlay=gpio-ir,gpio_pin=17
          #dtoverlay=gpio-ir-tx,gpio_pin=18

          Additional overlays and parameters are documented /boot/overlays/README

          Enable audio (loads snd_bcm2835)

          dtparam=audio=on

          [pi4]

          Enable DRM VC4 V3D driver on top of the dispmanx display stack

          dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d
          max_framebuffers=2

          [all]
          #dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d
          overscan_scale=1

            @Rulid said in Problem boot Retropie 4.6 on Pi4:

            Sharp aquos HD lcd 32".

            I was hoping for the actual model, to know what video resolution is supports. Try to force 1080 by adding

            hdmi_group=1
            hdmi_mode=16

            to your config.txt and removing hdmi_safe. Are you using the 'official' HDMI cable from the Raspberry Pi store or the Labist kit comes with a different cable ?

              perfect ! everything works now! eliminating hdmi_safe and entering hdmi_group = 1
              hdmi_mode = 16 everything works. Thanks so much ! you were really great!

                @mitu hello mitu, sorry for bothering you again. I would like to ask you for help again. by entering the commands you told me last time, the system started. However now the games do not start from the main menu. I am attaching a video for clarity (I know this is an unofficial image but I hope you can help me anyway. Otherwise I thank you all the same). video

                  You said in your first post that:

                  official Retropie 4.6 pre made sd image from retropie website

                  Now you say:

                  I am attaching a video for clarity (I know this is an unofficial image but I hope you can help me anyway. Otherwise I thank you all the same).

                  If it's a 3rd party image, there's no but I hope that.... We don't support 3rd party images, ask the author for support.
