Pi Model or other hardware: 3B+
Power Supply used: GeeekPi power supply, 5V-2.5A
RetroPie Version Used: 4.6.1, on Raspbian 9.11 (stretch)
Built From: official binaries (a while ago)
      USB Devices connected: none
      Controller used: 8bitDo SF30PRO
      Error messages received: none
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): none
Emulator: mainly lr-snes9x2010, happened with lr-mame too a couple of times

So, whenever I start some games (mainly SNES, all with lr- versions of emulators), I get this black bar covering more than half of the screen

This happens apparently at random (the example here is with Tetris Attack NTSC), and if I select restart in the RetroArch menu sometimes it disappears. I have the RetroAchievements plugin active and some of the default overlays. It began happening after a RetroPie-Setup package update via the official script.

Any idea on how to fix this would be much appreciated, thank you!

It's a known bug in RetroArch, but there's no fix or solution at the moment.

Thank you, I am editing the post with a link to the Github issue for future reference.

Edit: totally convince I could. Too bad, here's the link

Retroarch 1.8.7 has been released yesterday, hopefully this issue is fixed now.
