    What is the MAME ROW?

MAME ROW stands for MAME Random Of the Week. We randomly select an arcade game from the 0.78 MAME Reference Set to play on the week. The idea is to play games we've never played before, interact with other forum members, post hi-scores, share game strategies, fun facts, and (the most important) HAVE FUN!

We will play the winner all next week.

    Previous Rounds

  • That's a tough choice considering high score chasing.

  • Pang 3 gets my vote, think I prefer this one to the original

  • Shadow Warriors gets my vote.

  • This week's winner is Shadow Warriors

  • Shadow Warriors is an old-school beat'em up where the difficulty really comes from cheap hits from the enemies. The player controls feel "sluggish" although it's not from poor emulation...that's just the game difficulty. This does have a high score screen if you wait long enough. In hindsight that continue screen is very violent for the time similar to the Mortal Kombat "x-ray" visuals today.

I find Cheese Chase difficult initially because I don't know where I can go and don't have the cheese locations memorized. I thought I'd like it, because it's a combination of two of my favorites...Lady Bug in its swivel wall mechanic and Spatter in its zoomed-in collection gameplay. Sadly I'm not a fan of Cheese Chase.

Pang 3 is a decent high-score chasing game. It reminds me of the Megatouch bar-top video games in...bars.

  • MAME ROW #164 is now live!
