      Re: External Marquee

Now that the RPI 4 has 2 HDMI outputs, has anyone tried using the second output for outputting a marquee graphic to and external display while in game? I guess it's called a dynamic marquee.

I am also waiting for this. I run dual monitors on mine and my neighbors cabinets and would dearly love to move away from PC's for neighbors... easier to maintain and replace Pi's lol.

I run Attract mode on the PC and have setup a script to display the marquee on the external monitor.

As long as mame detects the second screen, should be no problem. I just don't have a Pi 4 yet to play with.

I just replied to another post :) same answer here.

          alt text

I have done that with rpi3+vga666 before
and now I did dynamic marquee with single rpi4
same but rpi4 was much easier because of extra hdmi port.

It has done by RiNA from Korean raspigamer forum and I
barely touched any ( just change port for rpi4)

@losernator This is awesome. Where did you purchase the small second screen for the marquee?

@losernator Thanks! This is exactly what I was looking for. Do you have any experience with a screen like this in the Pi 4?

              8.8 stretched lcd

@losernator Really interesting. Actually touch function not really needed if you use it to display Marquees or game artwork: does a "standard display" version exist?

@UDb23 There is no difference between wide or standard screen.
If you use other standard display, just make your marquee image to that resolution.

@losernator sorry, "standard" I meant "no touch screen" as it is not needed and should be lower cost.

@losernator Such an awesome idea. I'm running the Official rpi touch screen and it sets the touchscreen as the primary display. Is there a simple modification to the .py that can be made so that it sets the touchscreen as the secondary screen so the gaming happens over the HDMI connection for a pi4?

@tulathron Actually I did test with dsi display, but... I failed.
even though put "display_default_lcd=0" in config.txt, DSI display works always as the default screen
(that option was worked for vga666 dpi display, I don't know why it doesn't work on dsi)
                              Sorry I can't help.
