SSH and Samba not working over WiFi
-
Hi,
I have currently a problem that is driving me nuts. I have downloaded the latest RetroPie image for my Raspberry Pi 4 today. After the first boot, I connected it to WiFi, updated the system and scripts (so the Internet connection works fine) and enabled SSH in raspi-config. Anyway, I am not able to establish a SSH connection to the system and it is also not possible to access it via Samba. The system is also not pingable.
However... if I attach the system to ethernet, it gets another IP address to which I can connect via SSH and I can also use the Samba network share. It is also possible to use the IP address of the WiFi connection to access the system, but as soon as I disconnect the ethernet cable, I cannot access the system via SSH on any longer.
My router does not filter the network connection, so it should be no problem here.Do you have any idea what might be a problem here?

@Octoate Can you ssh/ping other machines via wifi? My first thought actually was some kind of router problem like a guest wifi that isn't part of your normal LAN. I do use such a setup myself to keep some IoT devices and those of my guests away from the rest of my network zoo.

Welcome to my life. Removing WiFi Isolation on your router is supposed to clear up this problem. Most of the time, I cannot access Samba shares when the Pi is on WiFi. I have to plug it into Ethernet if I want to access it with other computers. I've been trying off and on for a couple of years to get it working, but never have. The same thing happens on my OrangePi, too.

Hi,
thanks, I got it working now. After checking all different settings of my router hardware and the powerline adapters, I resetted the powerline / WiFi adapter to factory defaults an reconfigured it. Strange enough, without changing anything, it works now. I guess that it was a problem with the firmware of the powerline / WiFi adapter since the web interface wasn't available on this specific adapter as well.
