Just installed eduke3D why are the graphics so blocky?

Hello,

I've just installed the port eduke3D but the graphics are very low res and the frame rate is very low, it seems to be using opengl too.

I've seen videos where this is running so well, what do I need to do? I have it on Steam so can import any files from there if needed.
