Hi, I noticed that retro pie does not support the wii u. I was wondering if adding the emulator Cemu was possible. Here is the link: https://www.wiiuemulator.com/

You can't beat the classics(unless you copy them).

I'm all for borderline usable emulators being an option in the experimental section but surely Wii U emulation is a long way off being useful.

AFAIK the Wii U is technically similar to the Wii and the Gamecube but more powerful/demanding. Even Gamecube emulation on Pi 4 is very weak at the moment and as far as I can see is unlikely to change much until a more powerful model of Pi comes along.

        Currently running:
Retropie 4.8.9 on a Pi Zero 2W (Overclock Settings: CPU 1400Mhz)
        ES-DE on a GMKtec K6 (Windows 11, 32GB RAM)

It doesn't run on Linux, so I don't see how this can be added to RetroPie, which runs only on Linux.

          8. What are the system requirements for running Cemu Wii U Emulator?

          • Windows 7, 8 or 10 x64 or above

@George-Spiggott RetroPie runs also on PCs, not only on Raspberry Pi. Dolphin, the Wii emulator, is included in RetroPie on PC builds.

@mitu I found an emulator that is said to work on Linux. Here is the link: https://wiiuemulator.fandom.com/wiki/Decaf

Maybe this one will work. :)

Looking at the requirements, it won't work on a Pi or any SBCs.

@mitu That is true, but it could work on a Linux computer, and eventually a newer version of raspberry pi. :)

@mitu Do you think it could be added?

Just because someone requested something, it doesn't mean it will be added. It's a volunteer based project, anyone can send a request with the necessary code changes for an emulator to be added, then the request will be reviewed and maybe merged.

                        @mitu Sorry, I didn't mean to rude.

I didn't think you were rude, I was just explaining how adding a new emulator in RetroPie usually works.

@mitu Do I have to notify Buzz for this to be considered, or is that your job?

@Unknown I don't have any 'job' - as I said in my previous reply, this is a volunteer effort done in our free time.

@mitu Ok. Does that mean I should mention Buzz in here?

@Unknown I wouldn't if I were you. Since RetroPie is a collaborative effort done by volunteers in their spare time it's not good practice to expect others to do all the heavy lifting for you. Its likely he has already seen this post, if he has any motivation/time to want to add this he will. However something I have discovered is that those that know how to do things are much more likely to help those who don't know how to do things, if those that don't know try to do it themselves first.

Wouldn't Wii U choke up the CPU on anything other than a desktop computer? I've seen dolphin on a Pi 4, running the original Wii, and it's CRAP. The Pi 4 was actually 4GB and overclocked to 2000 megahertz. I would think Wii U would cause something to explode.
