Green lines and artifacts

hey there, im using a Pi4 and attempted to install retropie, I got it to boot up and recognize my controller, but everything on the screen either has horrible green vertical lines, or is a mess of green artifacts.
I bought the canakit and im using the power supply that came with it, and I've also gone into the config file and played around with different values in there to boost the signal. Anything under 5 i get no signal and boosted up to 10 and still have these results. Ive tried it on multiple TVs and a computer monitor with a micro HDMI to VGA adapter. Im not very advanced at this stuff but any point in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks! -
@RetroJojo It could be your adapter that is doing that or your HDMI that is the only thing i can assume at the moment because maybe you could of gotten a bad HDMI cord.

@Ecks thanks, that's what I'm starting to think too. I ordered a new cable last night just incase, but wanted to know if anyone else had this issue and if it was software related. My end goal is going to be to connect the Pi to a older PC monitor for an arcade cabinet im building. Ill see what the new cable does and report back, thanks

@RetroJojo no problem and also i bought my HDMI cord from my local store because it was a lot cheaper and shorter than what i was seeing on amazon which i don't notice any artifacts or green lines but for the monitor i am going to use for my arcade build has DVI ports instead so for my i would be going HDMI to DVI.

Did, by any chance, use
rpi-updateon your system ? What kernel version does your system have (rununame -ato find out ) ?
