Hello dont know if this has been aswered but cant seem to find, so im currently modding faulty retro game consoles and putting a raspberry pi inside instead and im starting with the mega drive now i was thinking of keeping the headphone jack working but ran into a problem, so what i want it to do is this.... I will be running the pi though hdmi to a tv so that the picture and sound run though that, now i know how to change the audio to go though the headphone jack with a command but i want it to auto switch from hdmi to jack when i plug head phones in and vice versa when i unplug the head phones without reboot and without a command like say a laptop would, is there away to do this? If anyone can help that would be great and much appreciated

Btw on this build im just useing a raspberry pi 3 b and the latest retro pi

Use the Audio menu in RetroPie to switch between HDMI/Headphones.

The Pi's analog jack doesn't have the ability to auto-detect if something is inserted, so there's no ability to run things automatically when you insert your headpones.

You can however create your own .sh scripts to switch the Audio to HDMI/Headphones directly, without going through raspi-setup or the Audio setup dialog. Copy them to $HOME/RetroPie/retropiemenu and they'll show in the RetroPie system, with the other items.

You can take a look at how the Audio command works here. Note that this requires the latest updates of OS/firmware for Raspbian, since audio configuration has changed in the latest release.
