      Hello,

      im trying to install retropie on my pi 4. i know its in beta right now but i was hoping someone with more knowledge could help me.

      ive followed the instructions on retopies website.

      i uploaded it to onedrive since i wasnt sure how to upload it to this site

      i did update berfore installing and i choose basic installation

        You most likely disabled the MESA open source GL driver from loading. Any reason you're not using the Pi4 provided image ?

          @mitu thanks for replying. i am using the stock raspbian because its also my ftp/sftp and samba server. it ahs a screen connected and idont want to keep powering it down and boting retro every time i wanted to play. i wouldnt know if i had disabled that driver, where is it located?

            Post your /boot/config.txt configuration file.

                As suspected, you've disabled the FKMS overlay that loads the MESA GL driver:

                ...
                [pi4]
                # Enable DRM VC4 V3D driver on top of the dispmanx display stack
                #dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d
                #max_framebuffers=2
                

                This is not a supported configuration and RetroPie will not work without it - on the Pi4.

                  @mitu that is strange, Ive never done so manually, only thing I've done there is overclock. Ik enable it and report back

                    The overlay is enabled in stock Raspbian, otherwise the GPU MESA drivers would not be initialized. Maybe you copy/pasted from some 'tutorial' ?

                        @mitu I've enabled both the options u showed in your post. It successfully. I was quite baffled because I saw the the Dt overlay option twice in the end of my boot config.
