8bitdo M30 2.4 GHz is driving me nuts!!
-
I’ve been trying for hours to get this controller to work with RetroPie 4.4 as it does pair up with my Raspberry Pi model 3b+ however, the buttons don’t seem to work. Once I boot up it has detected the gamepad.
Once I’ve mapped all the buttons inside Retropie, I can’t quit any game (hotkey + start) and need to reboot manually. I also can’t start any games. I literally need to get up and unplug my Pi and boot it up again. It seems the controller is having trouble with the hot key and start buttons.
I tried going to the 8bitdo website to upgrade the firmware but my PC (Windows 10 Home) doesn’t detect the usb connection. it somehow thinks it's an Xbox 360 controller?? I am ready to return this controller and order something else if I can’t figure this out soon. This is extremely and bloody frustrating. 😡
I’ve also read online that this controller needs to be plugged in via the usb cable supplied in order for it to work with a Raspberry Pi. Why is this? Should work like any gamepad via 2.4 GHz dongle.
I hope to get this resolved within a couple of days (at the latest) otherwise it’s going back. You should just be able to plug and play once it's controls are mapped and configured and that's it. The fact that you have to upgrade the firmware and configure the buttons every time you boot up the pi is ridiculous. Every time I turn on my pi it says that it has one gamepad detected and needs to be configured.
Should I return this and get the Bluetooth model? The only reason I bought the 2.4 gigahertz was because of the better input lag.
Or can somebody else recommend a better 6 button controller with a decent digital pad for retropie? It shouldn't be this complicated to play a game.
Thanks fellas.
