I am running Retropie on a Pi4.I can't get a SNES gamepad or a wired X-Box controller to work right with any games. I tried doing the input thing over and over, still no games can't be controlled right. I have been trying to fix the problem for weeks, almost most ready to give up. I hope somebody here can help....I would be so grateful

@hodx Did you download your retro pie image from this site?

You can't beat the classics(unless you copy them).

                    I have a 2GB Pi 4 with a Pi power supply
I have a windows keyboard plugged into the pi's USB port
I have a PDP wired x-box controller plugged into the pi's USB port
I have Retropie version for Pi4 on the sd card
I have gone through the setting for the controller
no matter what emulator I use, the controller won't move and none of the buttons won't act as a fire button.
All the buttons work for navigating through retropie.
I don't know what else to add.

@hodx unplug the keyboard. It will be acting as player 1.
