      I've been using Floob's CRT TV/handheld overlays (from his Video Manager script) ever since I originally set up my Pi2+ last year, and I recently updated my entire Retropie setup to the latest 3.8.1 from a fresh image.

      Before, when I was on an older build of Retropie, the text indicating which save state I had selected and which one I had just saved/loaded would display on top of the overlay in the bottom left so I was able to read it. In 3.8.1 the text appears to be displaying behind the overlay, so now I can't see at all which save state slot I'm selecting or the confirmation message when I've saved or loaded a state.

      Is this just a quirk of the newer build of Retropie/Retroarch, or is it something I can change in a config file somewhere?

          @ScOULaris is it that you cane see it at all or you just cant make out what it says? if it is the latter then just increase the font size in /opt/retropie/configs/all retroarch.cfg. search for this line:

          video_font_size = "12"

          and make it any size you want.you also can make these changes to it:

          # Enable usage of OSD messages.
          # video_font_enable = true

          # Offset for where messages will be placed on screen. Values are in range 0.0 to 1.0 for both x and y values.
          # [0.0, 0.0] maps to the lower left corner of the screen.
          # video_message_pos_x = 0.05
          # video_message_pos_y = 0.05
