      Goldeneye for N64 keeps crashing 5 minutes into the first mission. I don’t have this problem with any other roms , including other N64 roms . I’ve deleted the rom and redownloaded it from another website and still got the same result. Any advice would be great. Thanks guys.

        @billypoe

        probably helps to know what version of Retropie you're using and on what Hardware and what N64 Emulator you are using .. and if you've tried other N64 Emulators

          @billypoe Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, including the emulator used.

          If you're using a Pi, have you set any overclocking on your system ?

            @mitu I just bought a Pi 4 B, 4GB last week and downloaded the most recent version of Retropie from this website. As far as emulators go, I’ve tried the following:
            lr-mupen64plus-next
            lr-mupen64plus
            mupen64plus-gles2n64
            mupen64plus-gles2rice
            mupen64plus-GLideN64-highres
            mupen64plus-GLideN64

            The only one that comes close to being playable is the second one. All the others have too many skips and audio issues to be considered playable. And I have to have the video resolution set very low.

            As far as overclocking, I’ve been too scared to try it. With my luck, it’ll corrupt something. Or everything.

            I’m brand new to this so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

              @billypoe overclocking won't help crashes.

              crashes in lr-mupen64plus aren't too surprising - it's an abandoned emulator using versions of plugins that were known for crashing. it should probably be depreciated for pi4.

              IMO the only viable emulators for n64 are:
              lr-mupen64plus-next
              mupen64plus-GLideN64

              however, the former may have some performance/visual quality issues right now. the latter is about as good as it's going to get for pi4 + n64. overclocking may help performance a small amount. see also https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/gc83sc/n64_mupen64plusgliden64_performance_fix/

                  @dankcushions I just played through the entire first mission without it crashing. This definitely fixed the problem. Thanks a lot!
