Video Screensaver Pi4 Black Screen
-
When I enable game info on the video screen saver using Pi4, I get a black screen. If I disable the game info, it works but of course without using any font. Anyone else get this? It was not set to use game info as a default setting.

I looked at the settings in my Pi3B+ build and they are the same. Can anyone confirm that video screen savers with text info works on Pi4?
I got it to work if I turn OMX player off.

i switched over recently from Pi3B+ to Pi4 a few weeks ago
Yes, had the same problem on Pi4 with Text and OMX Player
Did a bit searching and found it's a problem with OMX player on Pi4 (something about the kms driver ? dunno, not an expert) ... you have to disable the Text.
If you want Text names for games to display then you need to disable OMX player.
EDIT: found the info here about OMX not supporting OSD/Subtitles/Text Overlay on Pi4

@ReadyPlayaWon thank you for confirming this issue. I stumbled on it when I wanted to change the font of the screensaver and I thought I broke something. I hope they are able to bring this feature back on Pi4, I happen to like the game info when the system is idle.

Subtitles aren't supported with
omxplayer
on the Pi4, so that won't work. You'll have to turn off the text if you want to useomxplayer

@mitu do you know if there is a plan to include it later or is this being omitted indefinitely?

It's an
omxplayer
limitation on the Pi4 - if the upstream package gets updated and supports OSD (subtitles), then it will be supported if Raspbian will include the updated version.
