Rotate Retroarch GUI Menu for Vert Cabinet

Hello
I have a vertical cabinet and I am trying to rotate the retroarch menu to match the vertical orientation. I have emulation station and the games rotated fine but I cannot seem to figure out retroarch. I was able to rotate emulation station by updating it and adding a line of code. I did not change the config file To rotate the screen due to the performance hit. Any help is appreciated.

Full screen rotation is supported by RetroArch with the
screen_orientationoption, but the option it's only implemented for a few display drivers, none of which is available in stock RetroPie.More details here.
