MAME ROMS and Retropie 4.6
-
Ok, so I have a Rapsberry Pie 4 with Retropie v 4.6 installed. I cannot get one MAME ROM to run. And i have tried at least 20. It doesn't matter what directory I put the ROM (Arcade, Mame-Advmame, Mame-Libretro, FBA, Mame-Mame4all) into nor what emulator I select (lr-mame2000, lr-mame 2003, lr-mame2003-plus, lr-mame2010, lrmame2015, lrmame2016, lr-mame, advmame, lr-fbalpha2020, lr-fbneo-neocd, lr-fbneo). Ok I think almost all out there. Any help in what i should try now?

I recommend using finalburn neo first and use one of the mame's (2003plus, 2010, or 2016) for games fbn does not emulate well or not at all. -

This is good advice :)
I have fbneo set as the default emulator for my Arcade Roms and just going through and checking my modest collection ... (from A to E so far about 70 roms) about a dozen games won't work with fbneo and have had to use a different emulator. Also have to change a fair few of the default controls mapping as well.
Also, the MAME Romset revision is pretty important as well. If the OP has downloaded a version(s) that isn't supported ... then nothing will work.

Thanks for the help. I didn't know about the parent ROMs and that seems to have done the trick.

@doughughes If you can find and use "Full non-merged" romsets, then each zip file will contain all of the necessary parts and you won't have to locate a parent version of anything. Plus, it will allow you to delete all the variations of games you don't need, like other regions that aren't your preferred lanuguage. Makes life easier if you aren't overly concerned about disk space.
