4.6 retropie
raspberry pi 4
NESPi 4 case
i8 keyboardHi, I have my new pi 4 in a NESPi4 case. My wireless keyboard only works if it is right against the dongle. I tried an extension cord on the dongle and that almost completely fixed this issue if not completely. Is this just a limitation of this keyboard in conjunction with the pi 4? I read it was USB 3 related?
If the hardware issue can't be fixed witout a tacky extention cord, any suggestions for a wireless keyboard similiar to this Rii i8?

I have a Rii 8+ Mini Keyboard ... works fine with my RPi2, 3 and 4 at distances of around 1.5 Meters (about 5 Feet)
The first one i bought off ebay went faulty after a month ... contacted the seller and he sent me a free replacement without much trouble. (wonder if this has happened before ?)
The replacement (the one i'm using now) has been working fine for about 4~5 Years.

Use Bluetooth as ReadyPlyerWon did? My Rii i8 works in USB mode with the USB dongle or without the dongle in Bluetooth mode with BT turned on.

My Rii 8+ Mini Keyboard does not use Bluetooth ... it just uses an IR USB Dongle.
If it does has a Bluetooth mode ... then i've never used or paired it with anything, including the Raspberry Pi.

@ReadyPlayaWon I agree. Was not able to connect via bluetooth without the dongel.

After some tinkering, the problem goes away when I disconnect the USB drive that allows the use of the little SSD cartridge on the NESPi4. I guess since it uses the USB 3 port, that is causing the interference?

@jthomas5150 This is a known issue (unfortunately) with the USB3 controller on the NESPI4 case, it does cause wireless interference. We had reports of users having issues with Bluetooth controllers because of it. An external dongle/cord might get around that, as you've discovered.
