@DTEAM I'm surprised you'd refer to the Saturn as unloved. I always thought the state of its emulation was due to the console's freakish architecture, but that it had a pretty strong following.

1 point for you for that one!!! That’s true.

Should we suggest it be removed from the experimental section if it is of no use

It works great for some games . I think They should keep It. With the list above, We know which games don't work and the ones who work well. Some games run at full speed or almost.

It's just sad not to have an alternative for other emulators after 25 years. Jaguar seems to be the unloved of simulated consoles. Worse than Sega Saturn.

@George-Spiggott was talking about lr-mess2016 specifically, not lr-mess. Noone is arguing for that to go.

@AdamBeGood the post @DTEAM is replying to is unclear. My bad. I have since edited it to specify lr-mess2016.

            Currently running:
Retropie 4.8.9 on a Pi Zero 2W (Overclock Settings: CPU 1400Mhz)
            ES-DE on a GMKtec K6 (Windows 11, 32GB RAM)

I didn't get a black screen on virtualjaguar but the ceilings aren't rendering properly.

Thanks, I will try it again tomorrow. In my case, It closes when we walk in another room. I'll play with my settings to see if It changes something.

Are you guys not getting that horrible screeching sound upon booting Wolfenstein 3D?
That's an instant Start + Select moment for me ^^

It also seems prone to crashing/freezing at random times before or after a level.

So, we should keep It playable or not ?

@DTEAM Keep it for now, but I think it needs more playtime.

Has anybody figured out some way to improve the sound? Being able to play Alien Vs Predator is very exciting, but the sound scratches and glitches quite often for example, which is distracting.

Try with Lr-Mess. I think It's a better game experience . I'll change my emulator choice

I've just installed the lr-mess experimental package via RetroPie Update. There are a few methods on here to configure it. Which is the best one to go with?

                                    Currently running:
Retropie 4.8.9 on a Pi Zero 2W (Overclock Settings: CPU 1400Mhz)

Yes. But If you use the mame hash file . The names of your romset must match ( manually method by me above) But if you use the .sh script above, It doesn’t use the mame .xml hash file list and your romset will work.

                                          See: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/zerojay/RetroPie-Extra/master/scriptmodules/libretrocores/lr-mess-jaguar.sh

Try to found a mame redump romset with MAME names and you will be covered on both sides

Finally got round to trying to set up lr-mess. I clearly haven't been using the script right because it doesn't do anything for me. I have also tried the manual method but systems.cfg causes retropie to crash. What am I doing wrong?

                                            Currently running:
Retropie 4.8.9 on a Pi Zero 2W (Overclock Settings: CPU 1400Mhz)
