I was trying to use plymouth on retropie, but I noticed it stops showing before user login (it even shows MOTD message). Is there a way to make it deactivates only when starting emulationstation?

You could try to hide any boot texts, see the Docs about it.

I did that, and it worked pretty good for boot text. But not for login text. Sure, I could remove MOTD too, but it gives me a black screen for about 4 seconds before loading emulationstation.

Did you try the touch ~/.hushlogin command unter "Hide login text"?

Yup. It hides the MOTD text. But I still get a black screen for a couple of seconds.

Alas, then I'm out of ideas. 😔 Maybe someone else has more.
