Dreamcast .RAR Files and Proper Formatting
-
Hi all, and thanks in advance for any help! I'm sure it's a Noob question, but again really appreciate the guidance.
I haven't enabled it yet from Optional Packages, but I'm looking to get the lr-flycast emulator operational on my Pi4 8GB. I'm currently running V4.6.
When I decompress my Dreamcast .RAR files, I get the following:
Based on my review of the Dreamcast Emulator Docs page, simply dumping these files into the Rom folder once I make that available will not work and the files instead need to be in one of the indicated formates (i.e. .cdi, .gdi or .chd).
Any insights into how I take either my .RAR or the other various uncompressed files and get into the proper format?

@Metal-Ghost what game are you looking to add. to me it almost looks like some type of system file.

Hi @ExarKunIv . So that one happens to be Chu Chu Rocket. But every one of my archives appears to be the same. Basically a bunch of numbered tracks, a System Information File and finally an SFV file.
-
@Metal-Ghost having you tried to open the system info file in note pad to see what it says.
if we can find out what format all that is in. we might be able to convert it to a chd.unless someone here has the answer
im learning as we go on this one -
This looks like a multi volume archive. Try opening the 1st file again with WinRAR/WinZip/7Zip and see if it's an archive.

Well @ExarKunIv and @mitu , you two are just on the ball, aren't you! :) You both were exactly right. Opened in Notepad, the System Information File provides a set of instructions stating to run an 'UNPACK.EXE' in the directory in which the file has been un-RAR'd, and you will get all the CD-DA tracks in .WAV format.
Additionally, when I opened up the first numbered file using 7Zip Open Archive functionality, there were .Bin and .Cue files inside.
Of course, that kinda' raises another question now for me: this particular file has BIN and CUE files....not sure how one would get these into .cdi or .gdi?
But first want to say thanks guys....I never would have thought to pick into those files!

You don't need that,
.cue/.bin
files should work also.
