lzdoom logging and loss of hdmi signal on exit

  • Looking for a little help with lzdoom, I am trying to find some logs that will help me fix a problem that I am having.

When I exit lzdoom I get a loss of hdmi signal on return to emulation station.

trying to locate some logs that might help me out.

    Running a pi4 @2ghz
    retropie 4.6
all other boot options are at stock settings

any help would be greatly appreciated

  • Well I have fiddled with my setup over that last few days and I have made some progress.

/dev/shm/runcommand.log did not show anything of interest.

I did note however that I had the default resolution set through the runcommand menu set to 1280x720. So removed the default resolution parameter and launched the game at a standard 1920x1080.

Upon exit with lzdoom set to run 1920x1080 the pi now no longer loses hdmi signal when returning to emulation station.

That being said, When I try to change the resolution within lzdoom itself; lzdoom (because the performance with brutaldoomv21 is horrible) crashes back to emulation station. More logging will be required to figure the situation out.

If anyone has any further ideas any help would be appreciated.

On the PI4, resolution changing will not work (probably on the Pi3 also), since there is just one (fullscreen) resolution available. You'll have to rely on the resolution set by runcommand to run lzdoom with a different video mode.

I tested lzdoom and it looks fine when exiting, even if I change the resolution with runcommand. Also, the /dev/shm/runcommand.log has the full lzdoom output log, just make sure you're looking at the file immediately after the game exits.

/dev/shm/runcommand.log shows that lzdoom is exiting properly so maybe it has something to do with my tv or the way that lzdoom is configured.

I have narrowed it down to running the brutal doom mod. All other wads/iwads/pk3s work just fine.....

Some more research is need to confirm what is going on.
