FBNeo September update - mwalk.zip on Pi 3B+
-
Tru to use lr-mame2003-plus and regular moonwalk.zip rom. They fixed it in plus version and should work fine (you can use regular .78 romset).
-
@dankcushions Yeah, I know. That's the one I'm using currently, but it has some missing graphics in the title screen intro. No biggie, though, and perfectly playable.

I'm indeed using 2003-plus with the bootleg now, which works fine, but has some missing graphics in the title screen intro.

@sirhenrythe5th Does AdvanceMame allow the use of shaders? If so, I might give that a go. Been seeing several reports of 'problematic' (for me) games running fine on it.
-
@WeirdH have you tried regular moonwalk.zip instead of bootleg? Just asking as I wasn’t even aware I am missing something :D
My bad - I tried it and unfortunately moonwalk still does not work on Mame2003-plus :/ as I use PC I will simply change it to something from fbneo or mame2016 romset but for RPi I guess that you will have to either live with no moon or use AdvMame (which is not lr I guess).
-
@WeirdH As AdvanceMAME is not a libretro-port it is not supoorted by retroarch. Therefore you have no access to the RA-Shaders.
Has never been a problem for me as i always wanted an authentic look by using scanlines on HDTVs and AdvanceMAME has got great scanlines available.
But if you prefer to play Arcade-Games with 3xEagleSAI & 8x Antialaising AdvanceMAME wont be the right choice indeed!
It is meant to be used with Arcade-Monitors and CRTs in general (which i use too) and because of that shaders and all that stuff that makes the picture much different from the original cabinets are not included. -

I think rpi4 might be fine with "proper sega system 18" emulation through FBNeo or (recent?) MAME. From what i understand AdvanceMAME is based on MAME 0.106, so most likely there is still a bunch of glitches on sega system 18 emulation ?

"Clutch Hitter" and "Desert Breaker" have issues, the other System18-Games run superb using AdvanceMAME 3.9.
Spoken from the view of a pure gamer, there may be some issues concerning developers of course (as "glitch in shadows at the beginning of stage 6" or something like that). -

Yes, i'm speaking of the kind of issue that produce visual glitches but don't necessarily make the game unplayable ;), most of them are reported by users though, tbh we don't have enough time for play-testing everything by ourselves.
For reference, i know FBNeo had bugs like this until recently :
In some cases like "Wally Wo Sagase!", the game was basically unplayable because of missing gameplay elements.

@sirhenrythe5th I only use shaders for scanlines, specifically the horizontal and vertical zfast-curved shaders. I don't know if those are libretro only. If Adv.Mame has scanlines as well, I am curious to see which I like better ;)
