I'm using a DualShock 4 with lr-pcsx-rearmed; it works fine in all games. Its R2 and L2 are analog triggers.

I assumed with the controller type set to negcon, since R2/L2 are mapped to I/II (which are analog buttons), these would act as analog as well. However they do not—they are solely digital.

You can try this out in games such as Ridge Racer/Wipeout—try feathering R2 and you'll see you either accelerate or not. There's no in between.

I've noticed that using the right analog does work correctly though.

Am I missing something? Is my controller configuration wrong?

I'll make an issue on GitHub if it is incorrect, as I think it would be very useful to have R2/L2 as analog with controller type negcon.

Having looked into this, I edited /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/Wireless\ Controller.cfg to set input_l2_axis and input_r2_axis and now it works :)
