      Since the Raspberry Pi 400 came out yesterday, a lot of folks are going to build an all-in-one multi-system home computer with it. The approach is different here, you usually don't start a game directly, but boot into the emulator to let the emulated system boot.
      So I suggest an option that, before emulationstation starts, starts into the emulator that was last selected when booting the Pi, maybe after some timeout.

        If you'd like this you can "easily" edit the launch script for yourself to launch your preferred emulator directly. Then if you still want ES to run you can use the "runcommand-onend". Maybe I'm not clear on what you are intending.

          I find it easier to set EmulationStation to start on the Last Played collection. If you want to start the last played game, it's just a button press away.

            This looks like a feasible option. I expect my Pi400 to arrive later this day so I'll try this immediately.
