Hello, I tried to install the latest rpi4 image. It looked promising but I can't select a proper resolution (full hd tv). I tried to change it into raspi config but after reboot I have a black screen... Why things are so complicated ?

@redfirebrooks what resolution are you trying to set? please fill out https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first and be sure to include your /boot/config.txt (you can access via an SD card reader, or SFTP).

I struggled as well, turns out the "fix" was to use the other HDMI output on the PI.

Maybe that will work for you too.

@redfirebrooks Did you alter the overscan setting in the config? That fixes the boarders.

@redfirebrooks please show a screenshot of the borders - different borders mean different things. however if they're present in emulationstation also, it's likely https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Overscan/

Well, RetroPie isn't meant to be one in every case and aspect. It's an community-driven, freely given DIY project.

That said, RP works ootb in many if not most cases. But if you happen to be one of the unlucky exceptions, you'll have to either put some time and effort into it, or move on to another system in the hope that that one won't have the same problems with your setup.

You're free to choose whatever suits your needs best, but complaining about it in every of your posts in this thread so far distracts you and everyone else who are willing to invest their spare time for your problems from actually working on a solution.
