I am trying to get the save games for the SNES to work for Super mario world and Zelda a link to the past. I have tried a number of things based on a google search but unable to get it to work. I tried to reset the permissions and it still doesn't work. The initial save works to create the save file but nothing after that. Any ideas? #snes

Please add some info about your setup, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Just to be clear - you're talking about game saves (in-game saves) and not save states (emulator saves) ?

Are you using the normal 'exit' shortcut to exit the game - after you save ? Normally the game save (battery save) file is not written until then.

@mitu Not sure but I usually(in Zelda a link to the past) Do the save and quit option then use the hot key combo to exit.
