Pi Model or other hardware: 3 B+
Power Supply used: Official Raspberry Pi Power
      RetroPie Version Used : 4.7.1
      Built From: Raspberry Pi Imager
USB Devices connected: Keyboard and Controller
      Controller used: 8bitdo SF30 Pro

Hi guys, I created a retropie console for the first time following youtube tutorials, I played a few games on it and everything worked fine except for some controller lag. Someone suggested I switch to lakka to take advantage of the run ahead latency feature. I reformatted the sd card (Silicon Power 128GB Superior Pro MicroSDXC) and installed lakka, using a keyboard was fine but when I plugged the controller in it went haywire and wouldnt stop moving down and up with incredible speed until I unplugged it, I tried 2 other controllers including a PS4 controller with the same results. After no luck I reformatted the card for retropie 4.7.1 again and now the screen recognises when I have a controller plugged in but wont recognise me holding a button to configure input. Worried I ruined the SD card so I bought a brand new one (SanDisk Ultra 32GB microSDHC) and installed retropie 4.7.1 and the same thing happens.

Is this a common problem with a simple soloution?
Did I ruin the Pi? also what can I do to help anyone understand my issue any better?

PS. This was intended as a gift, I am extremely new to the world of raspberry Pi and computing so if I don't understand any terms I may need a little help with easy to understand steps but I will try my best to understand everything being said. Thanks in advance for reading and a bigger thank you if you can help

i would not recommend youtube tutorials - a lot of them are very misleading/incorrect (ETA Prime's spring to mind). also you don't need lakka for runahead - it's possible in retropie also: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Input-Lag/#run-ahead (unsupported, at your own risk, etc)

here is some useful info about your controller: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/24048/how-do-i-get-a-8bitdo-sn30-pro-controller-to-work

As a secondary note..... I have had the same issue when I restart the system. Just unplug and replug your controller in and it will work again.
