make a exfat partition on the sd or ssd retropie is installed on
-
Recalbox in their 7.0 update did a great thing by automatically having a readable exfat partition or format so that we can drag and drop ROMs via windows pc by hooking up the drive or microsd card. I'd like to see the same feature for Retropie

Do you think it is a good option to use exfat?
In my opinion, you should know more about the exfat partitioning system and the irrecoverable problems that it could present. -
@sgtjimmyrustles It wouldn't really work on RetroPie as easily imho. Recalbox system is a fixed size. RetroPie is a full OS which needs to sit on the ext4 filesystem and can grow. We wouldn't know how much to split between the system and roms partitions - not everyone's use case is the same. Some people might want to add lots of addition stuff to the OS.
Even if this was an initial configurable setting on first boot, I don't really like the idea sorry.
Also, I think it's easy enough to transfer ROMs. You can copy directly if you install an ext4 filesystem on windows.
