Is a Middle (Third) Mouse Button in mame2003 supported?

Can you map the third (middle) mouse button in mame2003?
In a game like Missile Command for example, I can map the left and right bases to the left and right mouse button, but I'm trying to map the middle one to the middle mouse button and nothing happens.
Any ideas?

@tpr not in mame2003, however mame2003-plus just added official support for the middle mouse click. 😎😃 You can update or install it from source to get the new input.
