Flashing (outdated?) image to a new Pi 4 - Error Message on boot (Req. new software)
-
Raspberry Pi: Pi 4 8GB
Power Supply: Canna Kit 15W
RetroPie Version Used: unsure, it was from June(?) 2020
Built From: Backup of SD Card I made
Error messages received: On boot, "This board requires newer software."I previously (over the summer) built a Retropie with a Pi 4 4GB, and 64gb memory card using whatever release was available at that time. After I tweaked the heck out of it, I made a backup image of the entire card for safekeeping.
I just bought a new Pi 4 8GB, and a 128GB SD Card. I flashed the image to the SD Card without a problem. But on boot, I am getting an error that says "This board requires newer software".
Now this wouldn't be a problem, but I am trying to avoid re-configuring my entire setup. I still have the previous build on another machine. Is this something I can update on there, make a new backup image, and flash to my newer pi?
Is there another solution? Can I just install a new Retropie on here, and somehow get into my image file and copy/paste all the data over?
Thanks

Update your system from the RetroPie-Setup on the old system - say yes when asked to update the included kernel and OS packages - then transfer again a backup to the new system.
