Piboy - xpi_gamecon error on boot (but it works)
-
Hey, I'm running retropie on my piboy and get this weird message for the briefest of seconds every time I boot.
It looks like
Failed to start Shutdown xpi_gamecon.
I already tried to reinstall xpi_gamecon/1.0 according to some other post successfully, but the error remains. I ran retropie setup and other updates several time over the last few days, as well, so I should be up to date.
It doesn't seem to break anything tho, just weird.
OS is raspbian 10
Model: Raspberry 4b -
I don't think this is a driver/package included in RetroPie - what's
xpi_gamecon
, how do you install it ? -
@mitu I think it's part of the piboy install script.
I did the things in this post (note that I had the error before and after any firmware update)
https://www.reddit.com/r/PiBoy/comments/jnfh3v/i_advise_not_updating_to_newest_firmware_yet/
Also, this is what the systemctl output says
When I check dkms it says it's correctly installed. 🤔

@jod said in Piboy - xpi_gamecon error on boot (but it works):
When I check dkms it says it's correctly installed.
dkms
handles the installation of external Linux kernel modules, but it doesn't guarantee that the module works/loads correctly.xpi_gamecon
seems to include a kernel module that is not longer functioning/loading correctly. The module author(s) need to update it - otherwise the associated service(s) will not function correctly and fail, as you have noticed. Nothing that can be done on RetroPie's side, unfortunately. -
@mitu ok, Thanks anyway. I also found this pr on github so it seems like they're working on it.

From the looks of it it seems to be an overlay for button press display. Like, for streamers.
