PSX-Rearmed (1.8.8) not detecting controller input (Pi4B 4GB)
-
I just set up my Retropie (4.7.1) and every emulator works fine. However no PS1 game I try detects my Logitech F310 controller. I'm able to exit the game by pressing Select + Start and go to the PCSX menu by pressing Select + X and change settings there, that's it.
The games load fine so I dont think its a BIOS issue. Things I've tried include:
1)Going into the PCSX-Rearmed menu > Controls > Port 1 controls > changed Device Type to analog/standard/duelshock, none work even after saving and exiting right back to the Retropie menu and reloading the game again.2)Trying both PAL and NTSC versions of the same game, in this case Resident Evil 1 standard version.
3)Gone into Menu>Settings>Input>Port 1 Binds and mapped all buttons and set device type to standard
Is there something I need to change id "Drivers"? like changing Input or Joypad to udev, linuxraw, parport etc? I'm a bit perplexed with all this especially PS1 being so popular yet such a pain to get working.

Can you try updating your installation and then see if the controllers start working ?
-
@danmac2 Wow! I'm having the EXACT SAME ISSUE since last night! Everything works but PS1! I think it's due to the last binary update but I'm not sure!
-
@mitu Updated absolutely everything just to make sure I didn't miss anything, didn't make any difference. Game starts as normal, but doesn't respond to any controller input.
-
It's probably the same issue as here. Can you check if the Multitap options are set in your Core options ?
-
@mitu Ok so I went into RE1 disabled multitap and remapped the controller and seems to work now. RE3 doesn't seem to respond for some strange reason. Everything else so far (Test Drive 6, Medievil, Crash Bandicoot 2, Dino Crisis, Silent Hill and Tekken 3 seems to work like a charm though.
-
@mitu It worked! I don't know why this issue arose after the update but it works fine now! Only thing that's annoying is that I have to disable the multitap setting for every new game I play for PS1. Thank you!

That shouldn't be necessary, the core options are automatically saved and applied to all games started with the core, unless you had previously saved core overrides for the game(s).
-
some games (such as crash 1) don't support the dualshock controller, if you have analog input turned on for PS1 those games won't accept controller input

I'm actually having this issue too. The setting isn't applying for all games, even games I've never saved overrides for.

Did you update from source or binaries ?

Binaries.
-
@seraphiscain Can you try and update from source and see if the issue still happens (options not saving) ?
-
@mitu Updating from source seems to have fixed it.
