      Hi, I was running out of space on my SD so I thought I'd compress all my PS1 .cue+.bin files in to CHD, and the resulting outputs seem to run fine but when I run the scraper none of them succeed anymore. Is there a good workaround for this? Where does retropie/emulationstation store this data, if I want to hand-edit it?

        Hi. How did you create the chd files? Can you still run the games in chd format? Which scraper(s) did you try?

        The scraped game data is stored in the file gamelist.xml, the media (images, videos etc.) is stored in subdirectories whose names and locations depend on the scraper used. See the Docs:

          @clyde

          1. Used chdman.exe - can't remember when or where I got it. Think it was from a recent-ish mame bundle. I really wish the mame project would publish it as a standalone.
          2. The games run just fine, including CD music.
          3. The built-in gamesdb scraper

          Thanks for the pointer about gamelist.xml, it did the job, I was able to re-name all the existing cues into chds in the xml file and it resurrected their binding.

          However, I had a couple of new chds that failed. Those ones are still stuck unscraped. I wish the "search" function built into the start menu scraper worked so I could just tell it "hey, this is Megaman Legends for the PS1 can you show me all your entries for that?"

            @pxtl Alas, I have no clue about why the internal scraper doesn't recognise the chds (maybe it just doesn't support this format), but I can suggest two possible solutions:

            • Try the Linux version of chdman that's available through the software repositories of RetroPie's underlying Linux OS. See here about how to do that.
            • Try other scrapers like Steven Selph's Scraper and Lars Muldjord's Skyscraper.

            I'm using RetroPie's chdman and Skyscraper with my PS1 and Mega/Sega CD games, and I have only one game that can't be scraped in either cue or chd form (Kyuutenkai: Fantastic Pinball).

              Thanks for this, it finally forced me to figure out SkyScraper. OMG the SkyScraper output looks so much better than the default scraper, and it handled the CHDs like a champ.
