My RetroPie build in a 3D-printed mini NES case
-
Hi, I recently finished my retropie build and thought I'd post it here for anyone interested. This album has a few pictures
I 3D-printed a case in the style of the original NES system and modelled the cartridge slot to accept little replica carts embedded with NFC tags to launch games.
You can see a quick explanation in my shoddy
I made a more detailed write-up including my script/code and how I got the cartridges to work on my blog.
Massive thanks to the RetroPie project and all the other contributors!

@mike That's bloody adorable!
-
Very Impressive work. I love the cartridge tag idea.
-
@mike that is brilliant. Now I'm ashamed of my tiny 3d printed nes RetroPie case

@mike
That kinda looks like the NES Classic Edition Nintendo's rolling out! :)
Also, love the design! -
Wow, that is fantastic!! Any chance you plan on selling these cases?
-
That's absolutely beautiful.
-
Yes please do sell them. :)

Just seen this on Hack a Day and came here to tell everone!!
this is just amazing!!! so many brilliant ideas, and such a flawless build!
-
Holy schnitzels! Great job, NFC tags! Who'd have thunk that! Impressive.
-
What an amazing build!!! Great job!

@mike TAKE MY MONEY
As I'm extremely new to all of this, seeing the insides in great detail is awesome. Thank you. After I wiped the tears of joy from my eyes I could see an example of power buttons which I have always been curious about. No idea what arduino is but there goes my Friday.

This is awesome! Have you released the STL files anywhere I'd love to have a go at printing one for myself :D
-
You did a great job on this and its awesome with the the cart and cart slot. The only problem i have with this is its 3d printed which shows all rhe layers of plastic. Would sanding help or would you still see all the layers of plastic?
-
Wow simply, amazing!
-
Props man, props!!!
Incredible work and the NFC idea is simply genius, I love it :D
-
You might already know, but your build was featured on #CUPodcast with Pat the NES Punk today. In the fishbowl of this hobby, that's pretty much the big time. Very keen!

This thread title should be "The most impressive RetroPie-powered project you've ever seen!"
I'm really astonished by it!
-
Very impressive! :) Love it.

Perhaps Nintendo should have consulted with your before announcing the NES Classic
