Just bought a raspberry pi 3b+ but need help :)

I am new to this but I followed a guide on how to set it up but when I start it up on my tv I get to a desktop and not to set up my controllers and so on ... I am not sure what to do now :-/
I downloaded the right version of retropie image and used a program to transfer it to my as card :-/Please help me

@diptwit this is the only guide to follow - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/ - you won't see a desktop by this method :)

I have done just this and I still end up at the desktop :-/ I have tries 3 times now.. -
@diptwit there is no desktop in retropie. You are not installing retropie. Follow the guide.
