I've just finished building my arcade cabinet. I'm running a raspi3 with an official psu. I connected to an old TFT monitor with a hdmi to vga adapter. To get it working I had to make a lot of manual changes in config.txt.

I have some USB powered speakers plugged into the pi and into the 3.5mm aux. The sound isn't working.

I've tried changing to force 3.5mm in The advanced settings. I've run the command amixer cset numid=3 1 and neither worked. Could I have changed something with the HDMI settings in config that is causing this? Or is there a specific retropie fix for this?

I'm a real beginner with Pi and don't k ow what else to do. Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried using the Audio menu in RetroPie to set the output through the 3.5'' jack ?

@mitu they all refer to system, digital, master etc so I'm not sure what I need to set them as?

I think you're talking about the Audio setup in EmulationStation, which is a different option than what I was referring to. In the RetroPie system/folder in EmulationStation, there's an Audio entry, use it to set up the audio output.

@mitu I just seen the sticky, feel stupid now. I'll work through it.

It was the EmulatuonStation menu I was referring to. How do I get into the Retropie menu?
