Retropie not loading menus or showing my games from usb
-
Pi Model or other hardware: pi 4 4gb
Power Supply used: (If using a Pi) retroflag power supply
RetroPie Version Used 4.7.1
Built From: I used official retropie image from website, retropie-buster-4.7.1-rpi4_400.img
USB Devices connected: Only a usb stick when I need it and a comtroller
Controller used: vitros nes controller
Problem: First when I plug in my usb with the games and restart es, nothing new happens. Second, when I got my configuration settings and try to click on any menu, it goes completely black, I usually have to restart the whole pi. I need help on this quickly as it is time sensitive to get this finished. Thanks

@gt700 please give the full path and filename of an example rom file on your USB that you think should be showing up in retropie
-
retropie
—Roms
——Nes
————Super Mario -
@gt700
Super Mario
is not a full filename. please give the full filename including extension.
also it should be/retropie/roms/nes/
- it's case-sensitive. the appropriate folders should be created automatically when you insert a stick with the/retropie/
folder within.
also, what file system is your USB drive using?see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Transferring-Roms/ for the full guide
-
retropie/roms/nes/Super Mario World_2261806206.exe
Also is there a way we can get into a voice call or live text chat of some sort?

@dankcushions
And for some reason every singe eom I have is the same exact size, 3,707 kb -

retropie/roms/nes/Super Mario World_2261806206.exe
That's not a valid ROM file and it's probably not a valid ROM and most likely some malware infested program. If you look in the Docs, you'll find a section for each emulated system with the file extension it supports. If the ROM file doesn't have the proper extension, then it will not show up in EmulationStation.

Every one of my roms is the same exact size and they are all .exe
Im assuming they are all bad and I will have to redownload from a different source. If I have not ran any of the .exes Is the pc safe that has downloaded them?

Do you have an antivirus program running ? If you haven't run them, you'll probably be ok - just delete the
.exe
files. -

Where can I get a recommendation for a valid place to get roms?

Seems a little odd considering this how place is about retro gaming and kind of revolves around roms, why is this?

https://retropie.org.uk/docs/:
ROMs are copyrighted content and as such are not included with RetroPie.

I got my games to work! I found real roms, but my other problem is the menus, when I go to configuration settings and click on any setting, it takes me to a black screen and I have to restart the pi

@gt700
I really need help on this one, I cant find anyone with the same problem -
By configuration settings, you mean the items in the RetroPie system, or when you start RetroPie-Setup from the RetroPie menu ? Which settings are you trying to change ?
-
Do you have a 4k display ? Try setting the resolution to 1080p using the Raspi-Config utility in the RetroPie system.
-
@mitu
Tried it on a 4k tv and now it works
