      Hello,

      I am new to the emulator world and need some advice.

      I purchased a “plug and play” bartop but have been having troubles with the controls. Several games aren’t working properly and I’d like to try a new (different) image.

      I found the image I’d like to try and saved it to my PC. Is it as simple as copying that image to a new SD card and replacing my existing SD card in the Pi?

      I should add that the image I found is built on an official RetroPie base

      Thank you in advance

        @matt0676 every "in da house image" is based on the official image, that does not make them welcome here :/

          @sirhenrythe5th thanks for the feedback, like I said I’m new here. Just trying to find a way to make my kids Christmas gift work. Didn’t mean to break a rule

          Is there someplace else I should look for education on how images work in general?

            @matt0676 i understand that.
            Let me say so: yes, you can overwrite the image on the SD-Card with another one at any time.
            But keep in mind that you will only get support here when you install the official image;)

              @sirhenrythe5th thank you. I’ll be sure not to post any support related questions on here. I’m trying to navigate through all of this as best I can.

              Unfortunately, I didn’t plan on diving this deep, but the plug and play I got has been far from it 😔

              I don’t fully understand (obviously) all of the components yet (RetroPie, front ends, ROMs, etc). I have a basic idea but am working on it 😬

                @matt0676 in fact it was a very bad product.
                Non working controls, even non working games....that would not happen if you build your own image and know everything about it.
                I cant get that someone sells something like that :/

                  @sirhenrythe5th I completely agree! Needless to say we are very disappointed, but doing our best to make it work. And yes, I would LOVE to learn how to build my own image, that is something I think I would enjoy. I just need to educate myself further....much further to make that happen, which is what led me to this forum. I am just now piecing together all that goes into a proper image so I can explore building one of my own.
