I use to play multiple disks x68000 games on raspberry pi and had no problem swapping disks. just press L2 menu and it let you navigate thru your files to find the roms.( in pi case it was in [ROOT] folder) . very simple.
however when I try it on pc windows 10 (using launchbox and retroarch) ,when I press L2 menu it only let me have access to drive C (windows drive). problem is I stored roms on diffrent drive .and they must stay there. I tried making shortcuts of x68000 roms in drive C, but shortcuts folder wont show up in the emulator(x68k) . is there anyway around this?
also I dont know how to access the emulator config since its been installed thru retroarch. its a simple thing I must be doing somthing wrong becuse this issue seems very strange. hopfully some one here can help . thank you.

Try setting rgui_browser_directory in your retroarch.cfg to point to your ROMs folder, I remember there is an issue with disc switching when this is not set.

@mitu thanks for replying .I was trying to get the x68k emulator swap-disks to work rather than the retroarch's . its odd that there are not any info about it on the internet! it got to be a common issue. anyways I gave up :) its seems retroarch is a much easier option now.

thanks again.your guides on this website helped me alot with the whole retropie/launchbox thing . I appreciate it.
