ubuntu retropi start up issue in terminal

trying to run emulationstation in the terminal and it spits out this emulationstation: /home/ezkabani/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/emulationstation/es-core/src/resources/Font.cpp:410: void Font::renderTextCache(TextCache*): Assertion `*it->textureIdPtr != 0' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)and it boots up but its all glitchy and then boots me out, so can someone please help me?

On a PC (Ubuntu & forks, Debian, etc.), EmulationStation should be started from a desktop environment, not from a terminal.
