Controller Configuration Not Working
-
I have the following info regarding my raspberry pi
Pi Model or other hardware: B+
Power Supply used: CANA KIT 5V 2.5Amp
RetroPie Version Used: 4.9.35-v7+
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
USB Devices connected: Keyboard, Controller
Controller used: Buffalo USB SNES
Error messages received:
Verbose log (if relevant):
Guide used: (Mention if you followed a guide)
File: (File with issue - with FULL path)
Emulator: EmulationStation
Attachment of config files: (PLEASE USE PASTEBIN.COM FOR LARGE LOGS)
How to replicate the problem:I tried to setup a PS3 controller using bluetooth. When I restarted emulation station and saw the controller configuration screen I hit a button but nothing happened. I had to mash down all four buttons and all four directional buttons to make the controller name appear, which it did but it was a light grey. After holding all of the buttons for about a minute the screen finally changed to where you choose a button. The problem here is that the first selection randomly chose one of the buttons I had to mash in order to make this screen appear. I also had to wait at least 30 seconds each time I tried to associate a button.
I decided to switch back to my buffalo usb snes controller thinking the issue was the bluetooth controller. Now the usb controller does the same thing when I try to configure the controller.
I searched as best as I could on this forum and was not able to find any post with a similar issue. I am hoping someone can provide some assistance.

this is a linux kernel version, not a retropie version, and an old one at that. can you please confirm the image used?
it sounds like you should use a fresh, current install https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/,

@dankcushions I appreciate the info and was thinking I need to do a fresh install. I was hoping for a workaround without having to start from scratch but will try the fresh install.
